Meet PTW Ardmore’s Newest Athletic Trainer, Chase Bethel
What's your role at PTW Ardmore and how do you help support our clients and patients?
My role at PTW Ardmore is as the strengthening conditioning coach. I help support the clients and patients by educating them about the different muscles and movements of their bodies. Also, I help patients and clients get back to or work towards a physical goal by accessing each client or patient individually. Speaking with them to learn and understand why they got where they are and push them to where they want to be.
What’s your greatest moment — whether in work, school, business — so far?
My greatest moment was being able to train my wife to achieve the results she wanted after she gave birth to both our daughters. She lost about 30 pounds when she was pregnant in 2015 and 2020. Every day we worked and trained daily and took her a year after the first baby and six months after the second to achieve her goals. For me, it was mind-blowing to see me be able to help her transition and get stronger every day. From that very moment I knew I could extend the love, I have for training.
What's your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about my job is connecting with my clients and seeing them reach their full potential.
What was the moment when you decided being an athletic trainer was your calling?
The moment I decided to be a trainer was after me and my wife had our first daughter. I was consistently in the gym and eventually began building my home gym. People in the neighborhood and my friends began asking to work out with me and at that very moment, I knew being a trainer was my calling.
How is this experience different from any other athletic training experience you have had?
This experience is different because I’m able to work aside licensed physicians and gain knowledge all while building relationships and broadening my scope to help others outside of my neighbors, family, and friends.
What motivates you in life?
The things that motivate me in life are my family; my wife and two daughters are my worlds.
Who do you love to follow on Twitter or Instagram and why?
I love to follow Jamal Liggin because he always posts great content and we have the same style of training. Also, David Alexander because he is very affirmative. When he speaks about training his passion shows as he’s always critiquing clients and other trainers to make sure they are properly doing each workout. I find that extremely important because all it takes is one wrong move to end up with an injury.
Where can someone find you on a day you're not on the job?
Most likely I’m at home and I’m in my garage, working out.
What’s the best book you’ve read recently?
“It Takes What It Takes” by Trevor Moawad.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
I can’t live without my family.
